Flagship Pioneering Announces Appointment of Raj Panjabi as Senior Partner

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 6, 2024/PRNewswire/ -- Flagship Pioneering, the bioplatform innovationcompany, today announced that globally distinguished healthcareexpert, entrepreneur, and public policy leader Raj Panjabi, M.D.,MPH, will join Flagship as Senior Partner. Dr. Panjabi will leadFlagship's Preemptive Health and Medicine Initiative (PH&M),which is pioneering a new field to protect, maintain, or improvepeople's health before they get sick. In its fifth year, theinitiative is grounded in the premise that health should beaccessible for all and pursues interventions that protect healthfrom external threats (health security) and prevent or delay theonset of diseases (preemptive medicine).
Dr. Panjabi previously served as White House Senior Director andas President Biden's top pandemic and health official at theNational Security Council. During his tenure at the White House, hehelped lead several health security initiatives including thehistoric COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the White House's 2022National Biodefense Strategy and American Pandemic PreparednessPlan, the 2022 U.S. Global Health Security Act, and the President's2022 Executive Order to Advance Biotechnology and BiomanufacturingInnovation.
In this newly created role, Dr. Panjabi will collaborate withProfessor the Lord Ara Darzi ofDenham, Flagship Special Advisor and Chairman of the PreemptiveHealth and Medicine Initiative, in providing strategic leadershipand vision for the development and growth of projects anddirections within PH&M. Current companies and projects withinthis initiative include Harbinger Health, Apriori Bio and severalearly-stage projects. Dr. Panjabi will work closely with Flagship'sorigination teams to translate cutting-edge science andtechnological advancements into actionable healthcare solutions. Hewill also engage with leading experts, stakeholders, andpolicymakers to drive policy and advocacy initiatives and strategicpartnerships to promote the integration of preemptive healthcareapproaches.

The Honorable Raj Panjabi is former White House Senior Directorand globally recognized as a distinguished authority in healthcare,public policy, entrepreneurship, and technology.
